Insight
People do not only remember others through dates or formal monuments. They remember through places, gestures and small shared moments. If a memory can be placed back into the real world, mourning can become more personal, intimate and connected to everyday life.
Idea
AR Memorial is a Snapchat feature that allows users to create and visit digital memorials through augmented reality. By placing memories, messages and visual tributes in meaningful locations, the project turns Snapchat into a platform for remembrance, helping people reconnect with loved ones through the places they shared.
How it works
Users open Snapchat and select the AR Memorial lens from the camera interface. Through augmented reality, they can place flowers, symbols or personal tributes in meaningful real world locations, turning everyday spaces into quiet digital memorials that can be revisited through the app.
