Background

After the pandemic, QR menus and contactless ordering became a normal part of dining out. But for people with food allergies, this shift removed an important moment of communication: the chance to speak directly with staff, explain their allergies and confirm what is safe to eat.

Insight

People with allergies do not only need ingredient information. They need reassurance at the point of ordering, especially when digital menus replace the human interaction they used to rely on.

Idea

Menufilter is a Zyrtec feature that makes contactless ordering safer for people with food allergies. By allowing users to filter menus based on their personal allergens, it helps them identify safe options quickly and order with greater confidence.

How it works

Users download Menufilter app and save their personal allergy profile by selecting the ingredients they need to avoid. When they scan a restaurant’s QR menu, the filter automatically highlights safe options and blocks dishes that contain selected allergens, making contactless ordering clearer, safer and more reassuring.

Partnership

Through partnerships with restaurants and Michelin Guide, Menufilter becomes visible across both digital and physical dining touchpoints. Stickers, guide placements and campaign visuals help users identify allergy-aware restaurants more easily, making safer ordering part of the dining experience from the moment they arrive.
